ILLUSIONS_bones&keys is a continuation of an ongoing series of expansive, immersive, and site-specific installations consisting of sculptures, instruments, and stage lighting.
Here, collision is embraced as a potentially generative moment, one that opens up new
perspectives and unpredictable compositions. Metal sculptures clink against each other, bones scratch the floor, while wind machines activate rotating electric guitars, resulting in a shifting sculptural concert and layered cacophony of sound and light.
The installation explores concepts of theatricality and spectacle—appearing both inviting and eerily unsettling. Ideas around worldbuilding and immersion are investigated, including the agencies of non-human entities, in order to establish a postanthropocentric, self-sustaining system in which human performative activations and dancing live in. Elements of puppetry, robotics and other interrelated systems raise questions around power dynamics, control, and autonomy, while constantly switching between practical logistics and somatic poetics, which feed an ever-shifting noisy soundscape.
